Biography: Elizabeth Blackwell was born in 1778 in London, the younger daughter of landowner and M.P. Samuel Blackwell (d. 1785) and his wife Anne Dutton, the daughter of Lord Sherborne. She lived a life of comfort with her parents and siblings. Late in life, she wrote two novels under the pseudonym "A Lady of Fashion." Her last years were spent with her sisters in Spa, Belgium. She died on 3 March 1854 in Liege.
