Biography: Mary Chadwick was born about 1781 in Northwick, Cheshire. In 1802, she married Adam Chadwick and the couple lived in Manchester before moving to Exeter. The couple had two children, a son and a daughter. She wrote the collection Rural and Other Poems (1828) and followed it with a novel Novels of Nature (1837). The preface promised a second novel in progress. After her husband died in 1834, she lived with her daughter in London. She died there on 11 November 1871. Chadwick's second promised novel Rectitude (1875) was published posthumously by her daughter. Note: attribution of this author confirmed by Jackson.
