Author: Francis Henry Cliffe (1860–1907)

Biography: Francis Henry Cliffe was born on 16 January 1860 in Wexford, Ireland. His father was Charles Henry Cliffe, an Irish officer in the 58th Foot. He wrote collections of poetry, plays, translations of Italian literature, A Manual of Italian Literature (1896), and two novels: Can it be True? (1887) and A Daughter's Grief (1897). In 1898, he unsuccessfully applied to the Royal Literary Fund. He died in 1907.
