Biography: Amy Mary Grange was born in 1860 in Torquay, the daughter of physician R. Stewart. Her early life cannot be traced. In 1883, she married James Camille Albert Grange in Bruges. The marriage must have been initially unhappy since she filed for divorce in 1887 but the case did not go forward and the couple continued to live together. In the 1890s, Grange turned to writing contributing to periodicals (including the Dublin Revew and Lady) and producing three novels. The last of which, A Modern Galahad (1895), exhibits her ardent Catholicism. Grange and her husband spent their latter years in her native Devon. Sadly, Grange lived her final years in the county mental hospital. She died on 7 April 1924 in Exminster.
