Author: Anne Whitty (1832–1920)
Biography: Anne Whitty was born in 1832 in Liverpool, the daughter of newspaper proprietor Michael James Whitty, the owner of the first penny paper Liverpool Daily Post and an author of fiction. Her older brother was the author Edward Michael Whitty. In middle age, she published an anonymous novel Wife and Child (1869). Her authorship of the novel was revealed by her father's own newspaper. She never married, lived with her sister Sarah, and died on 11 May 1920 in Liverpool.
