Author: Charles Thomas Podmore (1870–1952)

Biography: Charles Thomas Podmore was born on 3 April 1870 in Manchester, the son of Joseph Podmore. He became a house decorator and painter. Despite his humble occupation, he did write a novel A Cynic's Conscience (1900) which received mixed reviews. (The author was identifed through a letter to the editor remonstrating against a bad review.) In 1898, Podmore married Blanche Sarah Roberts and the couple had three children. He died in 1952 in Manchester.
