Author: Bruce Hacking (1872–1950)

Alternate Name(s): Walter Bruce Hacking (legal name)

Biography: Walter Bruce Hacking was born in 1872 in Nottingham, the son of merchant James B. Hacking and his wife Ellen Thorpe. He became a certificated schoolteacher. In 1894, he married Elizabeth Alice Phillips and the couple had three children. Hacking wrote a single novel The Treasure Temple (1900), a Haggard-esque adventure novel. Despite success, it does not seem that Hacking followed it up. In the twentieth century, he became a manufacturer of lace goods, however the Great War forced his bankrupcy. Late in life, the family moved to Torquay where he died on 29 March 1950.
