Biography: Gertrude Knoop was born on 15 August 1867 in Halsall, Lancashire, the daughter of cotton broker Thomas Rome and his wife Marie Catherine (née Bleakman). In 1894, she married cotton cloth manufacturer Adolphus Frederick Knoop and the couple had at least one child. After her marriage, Knoop began writing fiction under the pseudonym "Perrington Primm" producing four novels. She lived a long life, dying on 8 September 1951 in Bathford, Somersetshire.
