Biography: Arthur Lodge was born around 1843. His early life cannot be traced. He worked for several manufacturers in the Huddersfield area. In his off time, he contributed poetry to the local newspapers as well as writing two works of fiction published locally. When his health began to fail (likely consumption), he spent a time in Southport and Derby to recover his health. On his return to Huddersfield, he collapsed and died in the railway station. He was only twenty-eight when he died in July 1871. He left a widow.
