Biography: Isabell Bell was born around 1806 in Holland, the daughter of James Murray. In 1848, she married clergyman George Bell, the rector of Kirklinton, near Carlisle, and the couple had one son. As a clergyman's wife, she wrote the single work of fiction, The Lost Sailor and Other Chapters (1864). As a widow, she lived with her sister in Whitehaven. Bell died there on 5 April 1881.
