Biography: Rosa F. Hill was born on 20 July 1822 in London, the daughter of musician, composer, and pianoforte-maker Isaac Henry Robert Mott and his first wife Fanny (née Rackstrow). Notably, her step-grandfather George Jackson was a wealthy broker who lived at Blythe House, Hammersmith. In 1842, she married stockbroker Charles Hill and the couple had three children. Relatively late in life, she wrote a novel Blythe House (1864), a collection of poems (1865), and a travel book on Germany (1871). Hill corresponded with Longfellow and dedicated her collection of poetry to him. She died of pneumonia on 26 October 1892 in West Hoathly. Her obituary observed that she was "greatly respected for her benevolent disposition."
