Author: Darlow Forster (1835–1913)
Alternate Name(s): Anne Elizabeth Darlow Forster (legal name)
Biography: Ann Elizabeth Darlow Forster was born on 5 October 1835 in Barrowden, Rutland, the daughter of John Willsworth Forster and his wife Catherine Shelton (née Swift). By the 1861 census she worked as a schoolmistress in Melton Mowbray and by the 1871 census as a teacher in London. Her single work of fiction comes from this period, published under a truncated version of her name "Darlow Forster." In the 1881 census Forster is an inmate at the Convent of the Good Shepherd in Hammersmith, an asylum for "penitent women" including criminals and unmarried mothers. The latter cause seems the most likely. In any case, after this point, Forster cannot be traced. It is rumored she possibly died in 1913.
