Biography: Philip Shore Fletcher was born on 30 December 1834 in London, the son of Major-General Edward Charles Fletcher (died 1877) and his first wife Lady Ellen Mary Shore, daughter of 1st Lord Teignmouth. He entered business as an East India agent then later became a wine merchant. He wrote a school novel Heathfield Hall: or, Prefatory Life (1869) under the pseudonym "Hans Schreiber," a section of which appeared in Once a Week. In 1866, he married Lucy Pickering and the couple had no children. He died on 30 September 1882 in Yalding.
