Alternate Name(s): J. Stanley Henderson (pseudonym)
Biography: Edward Willett was born around 1831 in New York, the son of methodist minister and professor William Marinus Willett. He may have studied the law, as several sources say he was a lawyer. Censuses show he was a newspaper editor and (briefly) farmer in Illinois, Kentucky, and New York City. Under the pseudonym "J. Stanley Henderson", Willett became a prolific author of dime novels, some of which were republished in the United Kingdom. He married and had one daughter, the actress Marion "Mittens" Willett. He died on 14 February 1889 in New York. Note: several sources connect the author to Vermont, but no evidence of a connection has been found.
