Author: Thomas Jeans (1809–1890)

Biography: Thomas Jeans was born on 3 December 1809 in London, the son of civil servant Thomas Jeans. He attended Midhurst school in Sussex where he befriended Charles St. John, later author of Wild Sports of the Highlands. Following his lead, Jeans also followed field sports and wrote two novels based on his experiences. He does not appear to have followed any career, living in comfort in Bath. He married but does not appear to have had any children. Jeans died on 1 June 1890 in Bath. Note: some sources erroneously attribute his works to James Cameron Lees.
