Biography: Anna Maria Glennie was born about 1824 in Cheriton, Kent, the daughter of John David Glennie and Anna Marie Woodyear. In her youth, she began writing fiction for the S.P.C.K. beginning with Arthur Granville (1848). In 1855, she married the paper manufacturer Walter Glennie Smith who mananged a paperworks in Fiume, Austria. The couple lived there for thirty years and it does not appear they had any children. On retirement, the couple moved to Clifton. Walter died in 1900 and Anna died on 15 February 1902 in Clifton.
