Author: Bourchier Wrey Savile (1817–1888)

Biography: Bourchier Wrey Savile was born on 11 March 1817 in London, the son of Albany Savile of Oaklands, Devon. He attended Westminster School and Emmanuel College, Cambridge earning a B.A. (1839) and M.A. (1842). He entered the church and held several livings in Devon ending as the rector of Dunchideock with Shillingford. An author of over thirty books, he wrote just the single novel The Sister of Mercy (1868). He married and had nine children. Savile died on 16 April 1888 in Shillingford.
