Biography: David Mitchell Aird was born on 1 July 1814 in Kilmarnock, the son of a weaver John Aird. He moved to London where he became a printer eventually having an operation of his own. He then moved into magazines, starting and editing several. Under the pseudonym "Pamphilius" he wrote several books including one autobiographical work of fiction. Late in life, he was called to the bar. He married and had several children. Aird died on 15 June 1876 in London. A rather romantic life of self help.
