Author: Henry Augustus Rawes (1826–1885)

Biography: Henry Augustus Rawes was born on 11 December 1826 in Easington, the son of clergyman William Rawes. His grandfather was the headmaster of Houghton-le-Spring Grammar School. He attended Trinity College, Cambridge (B.A. 1849, M.A. 1852) before being ordained into the Church of England. He served as a curate in London before joining the church of Rome in 1856 and being ordained a priest the following year. As a priest, he ran a school and a monastic group. Among his several published works, Rawes wrote a novel Homeward (1866) which advocated for his church. He died on 24 April 1885 in Brighton.
