Author: James Stuart Vaughan (1825–1899)

Biography: James Stuart Vaughan was born about 1825 in Westbury-on-Trym, the son of Philip Vaughan. He attended Balliol College, Oxford (B.A. 1848, M.A.) before being ordained. He served as the vicar of Stockland and the chaplain of the Bethlehem Royal Hospital in Bristol. In 1849, he married Louisa Marianne White and the couple had three children. Vaughan wrote the single work of fiction, the well-received temperance novel The Fiery Circle (1868). He died on 16 July 1899 in Bristol.
