Author: Edward John Brailsford (1841–1921)

Biography: Edward John Brailsford was born in 1841 in Birmingham, the son of Charles James Brailsford (who died the year of his birth). In 1863 he entered the Wesleyen ministry and served in various places around the country including Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Scotland. He married Clara Pooley in 1867 and had a son and a daughter. His son Henry Noel Brailsford became a journalist and novelist. As an author Brailsford wrote several religious works, many hymns, and one work of ficiton Only a Woman's Hair (1873) set in Yorkshire. He died on 30 November 1921 in Ilfracombe. Notably, father and son were attacked and injured during the Alnmouth Riots in 1895.
