Author: Matthew Brown (died 1878)

Biography: Matthew Brown trained as a minister and for twelve years he served the community of Hightae. In addition to his duties, he wrote several books including a novel. After his health began to fail, he and his wife moved to New Zealand in 1874. Subsequently, he moved to East London, South Africa as a missionary. The combination of stress then the death of his wife in June 1878 hastened his own death on 16 October 1878. He left several children.
