Author: Antoine Guillaume Carlier (1830–1911)

Biography: Antoine Guillaume Carlier was born about 1830 in Valenciennes, France. His early life cannot be traced. He emigrated to England where he was the French master at King Edward's School, Norwich. In 1861, he married Mary Ann Hipper and the couple had one son, Edmond William Mace Carlier. He maintained a connection with French literary life being an Officier d'Académie and a Membre de la Société des Gens de Lettres. In addition to poetry and drama, he wrote one collection of stories in English. He died on 27 March 1911 in Norwich.
