Author: Henry Crossley Irwin (1848–1925)
Biography: Henry Crossley Irwin was born on 25 July 1848 in Allahabad, India, the son of Henry Irwin and his wife Harriet Jacob. He attended Queen's College, Oxford and earned a B.A. (1870) before joining the Indian Civil Service in Bengal. In addition to his duties, the wrote several books including the novel A Man of Honour (1896) which features the Indian Mutiny. In 1881, Irwin married Constance H. McClintock and the couple had six children. The family retired to Ireland. Irwin died on 16 February 1925 in Mount Irwin, Tynan.
