Biography: Editha Ewens, born Edith Agnes Bloomer, was born around 1863 in Pelsall, Staffordshire, the second daughter of Boaz Bloomer. In 1889, she married army surgeon George Francis William Ewens. She spent time with her husband in the subcontinent while he was the superintendent of the Punjab Lunatic Asylum. Based on her experiences, she wrote the novel The Stars in their Courses (1898) and would go on to publish some poetry in periodicals. Her life is difficult to trace. At some point she returned to England where she died in November 1910 in Chaddleworth, Berkshire. Her husband died a few years later on 9 September 1914 in Lahore.
