Author: William J. Lacey (1856–1895)
Biography: William Joseph Lacey was born in 1856 in Chesham, the son of harness maker William Lacey and his wife Martha Batchelor. He became a journalist, writing several temperance stories for newspapers and magazines. In addition, he wrote several novels aimed at young adult readers. He married and died without issue on 9 November 1895 in Chesham.
