Biography: Lydia Elizabeth Peck, otherwise known as Lille Peck, was born on 26 August 1850 in Pickering, the second daughter of Wesleyan minister William Priest Peck. The family moved often due to her father's career, eventually settling in Chelmsford. As a young woman, Peck began writing religious fiction under the pseudonym "Ruth Elliott." She never married and died on 25 October 1878 in Chelmsford.
