Biography: Elizabeth Walker Firth was born in 1848 in Leeds, the daughter of leather merchant George Tatham and his wife Hannah Maria Walker. In 1873, she married barrister Joseph Firth Bottomley Firth and the couple had two children. As a married woman, Firth turned her hand to fiction, writing several novels over the next two decades. She died on 18 January 1916 in Leeds.
