Author: William G. Tarbet (1871–1945)

Biography: William Gardner Tarbet was born on 17 June 1871 in Darvel, Ayrshire, the son of school teacher Richard Tarbet and his wife Jane Gardner. By the 1890s, he was living in the London area working as a journalist. In addition, he wrote a few works of fiction, at least one with a Scottish setting. At the turn of the century, Tarbet appears to have given up writing for business, becoming the director of a Sri Lankan rubber company. He married and had a daughter. Late in life, he retired to Torquay where he died on 16 October 1945. He left his daughter and sister a substantial inheritance.
