Biography: Jane Benson was born on 14 June 1823 in St. Petersburg, Russia, the daughter of George Edmondson. She married businessman Davis Benson and the couple had three children. Relatively late in life, she wrote a novel From the Lune to the Neva Sixty Years Ago (1879) but did not follow it up. She died on 24 September 1906 in Southport.
