Biography: Annie Georgina Gray Jones was born on 26 September 1861 in Arbroath, the daughter of customs collector Thomas Gray Jones. Judging by the censuses, the family lived a peripatetic life, living in Scotland, Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Gloustershire. In midlife, Jones turned to fiction under the transparent pseudonym "Annie Gray", writing a dozen or so works of fiction for young adult readers. She never married and died on 14 March 1906 in Wallasey, Cheshire.
