Author: Euphrasia Fanny Haworth (1802–1883)
Biography: Euphrasia Fanny Haworth was born on 27 May 1802 in Elstree, the daughter of Thomas Haworth. As a young woman, she turned to literature publishing a collection of stories The Pine Tree Dell and Other Tales (1827). She followed this with a collection of poetry St. Sylvester's Day and Other Poems (1847) and another story collection Stories for Idle Afternoons (1875). She is best known for her life-long friendship with the poet Robert Browning: the two met in 1836 and corresponded until her death. Notably, Browning nicknamed Haworth "Eyebright." She never married and died after a four month illness on 6 February 1883 in Kensington.
