Author: Harriet Rutherford Russell (1848–1928)
Biography: Harriet Rutherford Russell was born on 23 January 1848 in Edinburgh, the daughter of physician John Rutherford Russell. Her father died in 1866, so she and her sister moved south to London where Russell began writing fiction. She lived with her sister for most of her life in southern Hampshire. Russell never married and died on 17 September 1928 in Alverstoke.
