Author: Harriette Elizabeth Streatfeild (1830–1901)

Biography: Harriette Elizabeth Streatfeild was born on 1 April 1830 in Abbots Langley, the daughter of army officer Sir Henry Armytage, 5th Baronet and his wife Charlotte Le Gendre Starkie. In 1858, she married Richard John Streatfeild and the couple had two sons. Her husband came from an old Kent family and he worked as a secretary to the Marquess of Abergavenny. He died at a relatively young age in 1877 after a lingering illness. During her widowhood, Streatfeild wrote the single work of fiction Hurst-Carewe: A Tale of Two Christmases (1880) under her initials. She never remarried and died on 18 April 1901 in Penshurst.
