Author: William Marshall Philip (1828–1903)
Biography: William Marshall Philip was born on 9 September 1828 in Grange, the son of schoolmaster Thomas Philip. He was educated at Parischal College and taught for time before joining the ministry. In 1863, he married Mary Hardy and the couple had seven children. In addition to his duties, Philip wrote three novels. He died on 6 July 1903 in Aberdeen.
