Author: Emma Louisa Seeley (1847–1927)

Biography: Emma Louisa Seeley was born 1847 in London, the sixth daughter of publisher Robert Benton Seeley and his wife Mary Ann. She grew up in a cultured household and became an artist and writer. Several of her siblings were writers: Leonard Benton Seeley, Sir John Robert Seeley, Mary Seeley, Edith Seeley, and Elizabeth Phebe Seeley. She studied art and became an illustrator of books. In addition, she wrote fiction and several art history books on the Italian Renaissance. She never married and lived most of her life with one or more of her siblings. She died on 13 February 1927 in Reigate.
