Biography: Charles Frederick Grindrod was born on 29 December 1846 on the Isle of Wight, the son of physician R. B. Grindrod. He lived the majority of his life in Malvern and came to dearly love the countryside. He attended Repton School and Edinburgh University where he trained as a physician. In 1875, he married Mary Eleanor Higgins and the couple lived in Malvern where he had his practice. As his obituary states, Grindrod was a "man of wide culture and displayed in more than one direction a touch of genius." He was a gifted photographer and part of the Camera Club in London; a published poet of several collections; and an author of several novels. He died on 4 November 1910 in Malvern.
