Biography: Ellen Epps was born in 1809 in London, the daughter of John Frederick Elliott. In 1831, she married physician John Epps and the couple lived in Bloomsbury where he carried on a practice. They had no children. In middle age, Epps wrote three well-received anonymous novels and a work of nonfiction, Practical Observations on Health and Long Life (1855). She died on 7 July 1876 in London.
