Biography: Louisa Carew was born around 1856 in Bath, daughter of Andrew Joseph Carew. In 1881, she married William Arthur Rafferty of Springfield, Kilternan. During his married life she turned to painting (her uncle was the sculptor John Carew) and writing. Of the latter, she contributed stories, essays, and poems to several periodicals. In addition, she wrote two novels using the pseudonym "Mrs. Frank Pentrill." She died on 9 May 1906 in Kilternan.
