Author: Nathaniel Cartwright (1844–1886)

Biography: Nathaniel Cartwright was born in 1844 in Manchester, the son of tobacconist Nathaniel Milner Cartwright and his wife Mary (née Gormand). Cartwright worked as a clerk, perhaps for a lawyer. He took an interest in literature, penning the anonymous novel Life out of Death (1876) and severel letters to his local newspaper. He never married and died on 29 July 1886 in Manchester.
